what componet in a evinrude 88spl outboard charges and regulates battery voltage

The stator charges with the rectifier turning A/C voltage into DC.

There is NO regulator.

this is the thing i set bush hooks a lot and have a 3 million candle power spot light and it kills the batter really fast even with the engine running is that normal

Probably. The system is only capable of 9 amps. Not much.

Make sure you are charging at all. Place a volt meter across the battery with the engine off and then running. Compare voltages. With the engine running, it should be higher.

Not sure. How long are you running the light for continuous all night?

Do you have the manual or box it came with? If so what is the spec's of the light and power consumption / draw?

If you dont have the paperwork/info who makes it and any model number off the light would be cool, so we can find more info on the light.

All the battery terminals super clean?
