Is a 650 cold crank amps big enough to start a 470 merc? I am having trouble starting.

Absolutely. The starters in the 470's are prone to problems. If it has not been rebuilt in the past few years you might want to pull it and have it checked by an automotive shop that specializes in starters.<br /><br />They are prone to internal rust and get slower and slow and eventually quit.<br /><br />Been there....done that.<br /><br />Bob

I agree with Bob, although I'm not familiar with the 470. Before pulling the starter, though, I would clean and polish all electrical connections, and reinstall (wrench tighten). Corrosion can make a starter or a battery sound tired.
