Hi,It's that time of year again where you guys are needed!! I'm having trouble getting forward/reverse on my 89 bayliner with force 125 o/b its as if the shift control isnt pushing/pulling the cable enough, when you select a gear you hear it trying to mesh but the cable on the motor needs another push for it to go in properly, this started to happen end of last season but I've just fired the motor up after winter and its worse than ever.
I need to know if there's an adjustment on the control lever unit? or what other possible way of solving this? as I dont want to pull the boat to pieces to get the controls out to find out there's no adjustment.
I know one of you guys will be able to help!!
Thanks

Re: Bayliner/Force Gearshift

the adjustment is useully at the engine end if not it will be in the control box which is most likely u.s.boat m.f.g. take your time removing. it is simple but does take some thought

Re: Bayliner/Force Gearshift

I've just tried adjusting the rod at the engine but all I get is either forward or reverse, never both, there just doesn't seem to be enough push/pull from the control, which is a US Marine unit.I've tried to get at the back of the control but it seems I'll have to pull the boat apart to get the side panel off and I dont want to do that if there's nothing I can do? Has anyone had a similar problem??
