good evening forum,
i am new to the forum, and new to boating. i am bying a bayliner capri 1991 with an outboard mariner engine V6 2 stroke 150ch. the boat was reconditioned and look nice. it is cheap (in my budget) but it is old, and i hope i won't have (too many) surprises. 2 things are not working properly:
- the rpm meter does not work, and i will check it. But where should it be connected, is there a plug on the engine itself?
- i can lift up the engine from the driver seat command, but i can't put it down. the command doesn't work. i have to do it from the engine itself. where would you advise to start searching the default? for example are there two separate electrical circuits for 'up' and 'down' or may it come from the command itself?
thank you for your help

Welcome to iboats!

The signal wire for the tach is usually gray. It will also need battery + and -, which should be purple and black respectively; these should come from the gauge next to the tach.

The tilt and trim motor and relays clearly work since you can get the motor both up and down. The problem is therefore the switch at the helm or its wiring.
