Re: Bayliner Trophy cuddy flooring
hi dave......welcome to iboats....
if the boat is a 2002......you may have caught it in time....
ok....a couple of things here......the foam under the deck area might be wet as well....
you need to cut out the corrupted area.......go as big as you have to, to get to dry wood......dont leave any wet stuff at all.
after the wood is out.....take a pvc pipe,,,,and cut two "teeth" into it..... then screw the pvc pipe into the foam till you hit the hull.
than pull it out.....
this will give you a core sample of the foam. the foam on the top is almost always dry,( however in your case it may be a little wet).
all the wet foam must come out.
you must under stand......this is where it gets lousy, because you might dig up the whole boat to get to dry foam...
the wet foam will not dry out ever.....so dont even think about it....if you do manage to get it dry, once water touches it it will soak up like a sponge, and you are back at square one again.....
once the foam is out.......use standard exterior grade plywood of the thickness of the existing deck.....the will most likely be half inch, possibly 5/8ths .
you will need to build in something to screw your new deck to, so cut some 4 inch strips of ply and screw them into the deck opening like a flange, so you will be able to crew the new plywood to something.
any wood that goes in the boat should have one layer of 1.5 oz csm on the underside of the deck.....yes...the underside of the deck
once you have the deck screwed in .....use the cut out hole to pour in two part foam to replace the wet stuff you took out.
this is a link to a full deck replacement,,,,,,hopefully you wont be doing the whole thing......but you will get the general idea of how to do it.
