We had a fair amount of rain yesterday, then the wind hit around 9:30 last night with downed trees and powerlines ... and the rain changed to snow. Only about 2 inches of snow before the wind really started blowing it around. Not sure how much we actually got and how much melted or blew away, but we went for 70 degrees to 22 degrees in about 7 hours. Schools were delayed this morning because of the icy roads and lost power. March really needs to take her meds!

That storm hit us last night. Was as nasty winds as I ever saw. Trees down everywhere. Power is not anticipated to be back till tomorrow. I lost two oak trees. The one uprooted and the roots broke out the edge of my driveway, the top hit the lid on my septic D box. Dodged a bullet there as it didn’t break it. The other oak was hung up and decided to drop the rest of the way while I was cutting the other.

I mixed a 60 pound of concrete about 2 weeks ago. It was upper 70s. I don’t know why but it never dried out. It rained 4 days after pouring and the piece cracked and broke. A few days later I cleaned it up and made new forms. While I was at it I crushed and scattered the wet chunks which now finally look dry.

Naturally I connected hose reel and used the hose for some of this work. Now I am sitting here wondering if I ruined a perfectly good metal hose cart during the last couple of nights when the temps dropped into the mid twenties because I didn’t drain it. The dog and chicken water sources were both frozen solid. Guess I will find out when I go to mix the new bag of concrete.

Got lucky. Hose reel not broke. 60 pound bag of concrete poured at noon today is already hard. The last batch looks like I just poured a bag on the ground without mixing in the water.
