beeper alarm not sounding

i have a 1997 mariner 200 efi on a 1997 ranger 487vs and the beeper alarm that normally chirps when the ignition is turned on is not activating. in the past i have had to clean a spider out of it but this time it isn't buzzing or anything....help me out guys

i removed the small in-line beeper so i can replace it after further checking i could hear a barely audible buzzing when i switched the key on...that thing was buried under the console...whew!
