today i pulled my boat out of the water and the bottom bellow was not attached .. i do not know if it was on while in the water and separated when i lifted the outdrive? but no water ever entered the boat... should i attach it or is it no problem? i believe its the exhaust part of the bellows? the lowest bellow on the outdrive. any advice?

freebee and frankie are both correct. can you? sure. should you? depends on how noisy it is. it will be louder. like a harley with open pipes.

With the xhaust tube, the exhaust will still exit the prop with the drive all the way down. When idling or the drive up you may have a little more noise but not even close to what a Harley sounds like with open pipes. The exhaust still exits under the water.

Re: BELLOWS not connected?

You won't get any water in the boat from that bellows not being attached. It could be that someone gave up on trying to get it attached when replacing the bellows, as that bellows is next to impossible with out a special tool.

When it's not connected, it will be louder, but no louder than it already is. :D If you connect it, your boat exhaust might be quieter. If you are worried about it, buy the special tool (~$50), and the next time you pull off your outdrive, try to reattach it.
