Re: Bellows Replacement Tips and Tricks? Alpha 1...

fishrdan, The issue though is once I have the bellows on the bell housing, how am I going to put them in hot water and put them over a container then put them on the gimbal housing in 10-15 secs? Without the aft end on the gimbal, that's doable, but not once I have them on the gimbal. I suppose I could do as you say and leave them on for some time (I have to go away for a few days) and let them get stretched out.

svxtech, I will try to see if I can get some reasonably detailed pics tomorrow.

Put bellows in hot water, press cup in bellows to stretch it out, attach bellows to bell housing with cup still stuffed into bellows, let it cool down (overnight?)............... Yank cup out and quickly slap the bell housing/bellows on gimble housing. Once you get the Ujoint bellows installed and secured, then install the exhaust bellows, then the shift cable, etc.

Oh yeah, I put a couple coats of bellows adhesive (3M super weatherstrip adhesive) on the gimble housing flange and let it dry for 10-15 minutes, dry to touch, but not dried out. I don't put adhesive on the bellows themselves. For this connection at least.
