I was replacing my bellows, gimball bearing, lower shift cable, and trim sender today.

Besides finding a flapper in the exhaust everything was going good except when I got to puttin the exhaust bellow on I realized its way too big. The small end of the new exhaust boot is a 1/2 inch bigger than the old exhaust bellow.

I got all my parts for all of this from iBoats. HERE is the exhaust boot or tube I got.

I measured the tube and the opening where the tube connects to. The opening on the transom assy is 3" and the tube is 3 1/2".

Is this the right boot? I think this is too big?

dang dude...Well when you order your parts at least get the sierra parts if you go aftermarket... Didn't I show you where to go to look up parts and get part numbers? 0914046 OMC exh bellow..Sometimes you take the zero out or add it to hunt parts.. Matters how they got listed.. BTW I see the hook from a slide hammer in your picture... It won't remove that bearing.. Give me a holler if you run into a snag getting it out... Why didn't you just buy a bellows kit? Comes with all the bellows, bearings, gaskets and o rings...

this is cheap for a new part

Yes, you have the wrong part, this is why I always tell people to first find the OEM part number, then go looking for the aftermarket part that corresponds with the OEM number.
In your case, you look it up in the BRP catalog first. Here http://epc.brp.com/SiteMods/BRP_Pub...efault.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E&brands=ej&lang=E

Then if you want a Sierra part, you can even use this to convert the OEM number to the Sierra number. http://a1078003.sites.myregisteredsite.com/sierra/catalog/2010interchange.asp

You were obviously searching by name "Exhaust Boot" when it's really called an exhaust bellows.

I typed in Exhaust Bellows OMC Cobra here at iboats ans got this http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Ac..._category.f--searched.1--**********.717973489

Re: Bellows tube/boot bigger than regular bellow?

I guess where I got mixed up was looking for a boot instead of tube.

I didnt get the kit because I didnt see one that came with the exhaust tube instead of the bellows.

I was looking for the tube that you attach to the transom but doesn't get attached to the pivot housing.

I forget if it was you Don that said you'd never install a exhaust bellows again, myabe it was Bond-O, but thats what I was looking for.

OMC doesn't have a tube, that is Mercruiser only.
