Is it just me or is that belt to thin for that pulley?

If the belt is glazed at all, time for a new belt.

If the belt has been slipping, it will look and feel smooth as if it got slightly melted.

Looking at the belt, to me it seems a bit low in the Alt pulley. I suggest you get a felt tip pen and cover the flat bit at the base of the pulley with ink, leave it to dry then run the engine with a load on it to induce the squeal for a while, then inspect the inked area. If it is worn away then the belt is bottoming out in the pulley and it is time for a new belt.

Thanks guys. Well the belt is new as of last fall but i've put about 20 hours on the boat since and in that time had the issues with the pulley wearing the belts and causing excessive belt dust in the engine compartment which led me to refurbish the pulley's so I guess i'll just go ahead and replace the belt to rule it out. The belt that is on there is the Goodyear 3852504. Should i replace it with the same or is there something different I should look into?

That number on there is actually a Volvo number. Just doing some looking, it appears correct.

Good news! Changed the belts and no more squeaking! Purred like a kitten.
Last time out for the season.... Great evening cruise
