Best Electric Salt Water Motor

Can anyone tell me which is the best electric outboard motor. I have a 14 foot fishing boat, my 71 johnson motor is still being repaired. I'd like to get an electric motor so I can get out there fishing, but I'm not sure how much thrust and volts I need and if the Minn Kota Riptide is a good choice. HELP!!!! :rolleyes: :confused:

Minn Kota Riptides are very nice. I had the 101 lb, just sold it with the Lund. For your needs though, maybe a 3 horse would get you more fish for the money. You'll only get a couple of hours out of the "electric" motor. <br /><br />If you do buy one, get the 24 volt one, 65 or 74 lbs thrust, running them at lower speeds is better than the smaller ones on "full" to conserve the battery's.<br /><br />But again, for another $50 you could buy a 3.3 Merc here on iboats....... :rolleyes:
