I have a 1999 Bayliner 17.5 Capri
Merc 3.0
Alpha I

Pitch and width. Do all props for sale here come with the hub kit or is that a seperate item?

Which prop should I go with? Thanks for the info!

Re: Best Prop for my boat

To know what you need, we need to know what you have currently.

1. what is your wide open RPM?
2. What is your wide open speed?
3. what are you looking to gain, speed or holeshot?
4. what prop pitch and size do you have now?
5. aluminum or stainless?

Think thats about it... I may not be able to help much..but the Guru's here will be along shortly to help!

Re: Best Prop for my boat

Thanks for the reply. Not sure on the WOT RPM's I bought the boat last summer and the tach does not work.

The WOT Speed is about 45 MPH

I am happy with the performace now for tubing, sking, wakeboarding.

The prop is chewed up pretty good and needs to be replaced. Is there a number somewhere on the prop?

Thanks!

If your tach doesnt work, you have no way of knowing if you are near redline at wide open throttle. You could be missing out on some performance! Alternatly you could be running over your redline and could cause potential damage to your engine. First step should be to replace or repair the tach and see what your RPM's are. Then we can help you figure out if that is indeed the correct prop.

Yes, there are numbers stamped into the side of the prop. Most importatnt is the xxP at the end. that is the pitch of your prop. You can measure the diameter by measuring from the center of the prop shaft to the tip of one blade and multiplying by 2.

Post in the electrical forum for help with the tach...
