From what I've heard about the stuff I'd use a die gringer! LOL That stuff is vicious! I have a friend who works in a boat yard in Portland and he has actually had that stuff pull the gel coat off.

Best of luck, hope someone here can help!

Is the entire plate bedded in 5200, just the edges, bolts. That is some tough stuff. Good luck!

If all else fails, try heating up the plate with a torch until you smell the 5200, then drive sideways with a big chisel and sledge to shear it off.

Theory being that heat often softens adhesives.

Good luck.

Anti-Bond works wonders. Shave off most of the 5200 without digging into clear coat. Anti-Bond softens the 5200. Use a small putty knife to scrape it off. It may take a couple applications or more, but it's harmless to clear coat.

Interlux 333 thinner will soften up the 5200.

I've used Anti-Bond...works good. Used Naptha....better results. Both along with a scraper and on a 65 footer.... that's alot of work.

JJB...

Work all corners with a thin putty knife..then all the way around 1/2" .

Then start to work under all four corners again with dedicated putty knives ( each corner has its own putty knife ).

Take your time.. Tap .. tap one corner... tap tap another..

let the 5200 "release" on its own .. dont force it .. put pressure...and wait...then a little more..wait.. wholy cow theres alot of "...'s" in this post :)

IF this does not work, then take a blowtorch to it :)

YD.
