Best way to repair inflatable

I have recently "inherited" a large inflatable/towable to use behind our ski boat. It is one of those 5 person "water weenies". This particular one is 20+ years old and is in fairly decent condition. The main problem is where a crease has been made when it was folded over and then rolled up for storage there is what looks like a crack and a very slow leak. I am sure that it would not be too difficult to patch except that the "crack" is about 18 inches long. I want to make a repair that will last a long time, but I am not very experienced in these sorts of things. I am not sure of what the material that it is made of or if that even makes a difference in how to repair it. I do know that the material has a smooth shiny like texture and it was made in the '80s. I will try and post some pics of it tonight. I have read some "mixed reviews" about some paint on type products like liquid rubber, but I would rather not add a ton of weight if it could be avoided and I also want a "good" repair that I don't have to spend a ton of $$ on.

Thanks for any help you can offer...

You're gonna have to find out what type of material it's made of, and then use a patch and glue designed for that material.
Its there not a brand name somewhere on it? If so, google the name and see what you find out.
As far as rubber paint, not made for patching holes like that. Its more designed to paint over the repair after you've patched it.
Good luck.
