CABRILLO BOAT SHOP will RIP YOU OFF!

They charged me about $2000 too much! Once they found out i worked in Bev. Hills, my fee mysteriously GREW!!??? Hmmm...??? They lied on their invoice about what they charged me for. They paid little if any attention to me while I was there. When they gave my boat back, it began taking on water immediately.

STAY AWAY!!!!

Now you see why I do most things myself.
It's as bad as when the mother in law called last night. Her mid 90's Ford car needs a new starter. The quote she got from a "trusted mech" was $285.00:confused:. The starter cost 40 bucks at Pep Boys. Or that's $245 for 2 bolts and 2 wires. If gas wasn't so high I would have drove to New Jersey and did my self and still would have money left over.

Re: Beware San Pedro Boaters...

I hear you on that one. Took my wife's 2002 Regal in for a problem with the key getting stuck in the ignition. Turns out to be a flaky sensor. Dealer mentioned sensor was part of the shift assembly. $708 for the part, $150 for labour, so with tax it would be close to $1000.

Called a used auto parts place, bought the part for $90 used with 90 day warranty (pretty much what the dealer would give on a new one) Installed it in under 45 mins last night.

Dealers, whether car or boat dealers need to realize we'll pay for work, but the markup has to be within reason. Make some money but don't try to retire on a few jobs.

I have a local guy who does the work on my boat motor. He charges $45/hour and I never see bills over $200. I guess some look for a living, some for a fortune. Just need to find a reputable repair shop
