I just helped a friend replace the water pump on his 2000 BF130. All seemed to go well, but.....when we fired it up we noticed water coming from around the upper exhaust ports. Is this normal?

Thanks

Re: BF 130 water around upper exhaust ports?

This one was also an easy fix. My model, BF130 Yr 2000, has a fresh water (optional) plug to hook the water hose up to flush the engine without running the engine. When the original impellar busted, I used this port to flush the engine while in dry dock. What happened was trash was forced up into the check valve and remained stuck open. This allowed water to seep out and run down the housing which made it appear that it was running out or around the exhaust ports. Some models have a check vavle that is opened when the tube is inserted. This model has the check valve on the block itself. Follow the flow tube up to the block and it is a little housing that looks like a thermostat held in with two bolts. Remove and check O-rings, drain stop valve and spring.
