Re: Bibles Coming To Calif Schools - Lookout Bassy
It was forbidden because the Catholic church does not want it's parishoners to READ the Bible. They want you to believe what they tell you. The King James and even better the NIV version of the Bible make the true word of God available and understandable to any of us. At this point you realize that gifts to the Catholic church and prayers to saints and prayers to Mary won't get you to heaven and only a heartfelt belief in Jesus as your Saviour will. The mighty machine that the Catholic churc has become comes to a grinding halt when Catholics read the Bible. I speak from 13 years in Catholic schools and 5 years as an altar boy. No I don't have any horror stories of abuse of any kind. Actually I give credit for my religous upbringing as the foundation for my search for a Relationship with God through the Son. It was my Catholic upbringing that led me to realize a general revelation that there was a supreme power i.e. the glories of nature and the blessing of a well tuned boat on an early morning lake.
But it was reading the Bible in understandable language that brought me to the truth that the only way to Heaven and The Father was through The Son, and the work He did on the cross for the Love of you and me, as humble and un-worthy as we are. Grace is getting what you don't deserve and Mercy is not getting what you do deserve. I'm a walkin' talkin' example and I praise God every day for it!

I'm a very slow typer but I believe in whole it all makes some sense.
