I use progressive bifocal polarized sun glasses. They work very well for me.

My prescription has gotten so strong, I decided this is it. Next time it worsens, it's time for Lasik. I know it doesn't necessarily free you from glasses for life but it at least establishes a new base line and even that would be a big help. I had a heck of time finding frames to accommodate my thick lenses and paid out the %$& for my last pairs of glasses. Enough is enough.

Just a note of caution EZ. For some people, Lasik makes them more suseptible to night blindness. Ask questions before proceeding.

Yup....Buddy of mine had it done and lost his night vision. Not completely, but enough that he is uncomfortable driving at night, or early morning when he leaves for work. I was going to get it done but I have crappy night vision to begin with. That's the last thing I need is to be blind at night.

Re: Bifocal (progressive lens) Sunglasses - UPDATE

I got my progressives back for the opticians 2 days ago now.

Someone please tell me I'll get used to them!
I'm struggling quite a bit with distance. Not so much with close up just 20 yards +.

I've been back to talk to the optometrist and he said to give it a week but I can't see it improving.
Distance seems to be out of focus as if the script is wrong.
I'll keep trying but not so sure.

The second pair I had were a problem. After giving it some time as suggested, I had the optometrist check them. They were cut wrong and had to be replaced. Give it a little time.

Take them back. If the problem is with distance, then there is something wrong. Most people that have problems with progressive lenses are with getting used to the bifocal part. The distance part of your lense should be good from the get-go.

I was weird in that it took zero time for me to get used to them. Since the first pair, I have had other pairs that did not adjust right. Some were just an adjustment of the focal point of the lens which was corrected by adjusting the nose piece. Others were a need to correct the grinding of the lens. If you are not adjusted in a few days, make sure you get the doc to check the focal point and the actual script of the lens.
