Re: Biggway STEERING HARD

First disconnect steering cable from motor. Now turn steering wheel. if it is still hard to turn, the steering cable is bad. Now swivel the motor by hand. if it is hard to swivel, look on the motor near where it bolts to the boat. There will be a zerc-type grease fitting. When you pump grease into it, it will come out bottom of the swivel tube. If it comes out of top and bottom ends of swivel tube, the motor will steer easily.

I think mine is in the middle of the midsection (between engine and propeller unit) on the left side looking forward.

If I want grease to come out the top bushing, sometimes I need to jack up slightly on motor putting pressure on lower bushing.

A maintenance manual gives you all the info you need to know to keep things working as they should. Lubrication should be a preventative maintainance routine. There are linkage points that need a dollup of grease, and gear lube to check and change, etc.

hope it helps
