My boat is currently wired where one switch powers both the bile and livewell. I want to wire them to two switches to operate them independently (don't know why it was done this way to begin with). Bilge is two wire w/o float. I want to wire to an illuminated switch. Anyone send me a simple diagram to do this? Thanks!!

PS, how do wire to make the light work in an illuminted switch? Want to put a new switch in for the livewells to light up also. Thanks again!

Re: bilge pump wiring

Can't do the diagram but think I can walk you through it. I rewired my bilge pump two weeks ago.

Bilge Pump - I consider a float switch right by the drain hole at the bottom of the transom a must for safety and peace of mind. So -

Red + from battery (use a loop connector to the screw on + battery post) to float switch then to bilge pump. Use an in-line fuse. Black - from bilge pump to ground -.

Red + from fuse/circut breaker panel to toggle switch and splice this to the + on the bilge pump.

Your bilge pump will then be getting power from either the float switch or your toggle switch.

Live Well - Red + from fuse/circut breaker to toggle switch then to live well pump. Black - from live well pump to ground.

That should do it. I did mine because I had a bad wire or connection and could not find where the problem was.
