Re: Bizarre career shift

Yeah the other stories are interesting as well. I guess I am particularly struck by the contrast of a partying rock guitarist from the 70s, and now what appears to be a conservative Defense Consultant.

The Chuck Barris thing has not been confirmed has it? Is there a way to confirm a CIA gig? I would guess not . . .

You know the old story..... it can be confirmed but then we would have to kill you once you know the truth!! :D

Since there seems to be a few music fans in here, the following link might be fun. Its of a favorite bass player of mine, who happens to be a decent singer and songwriter, as well. He also plays 6 string guitar, but is mostly seen on bass. His name is Richard Bona, and he is from Cameroon. Unfortunately, he doesn't tour the U.S. all that much, and usually performs in places like LA and NY, when he does.

Wow!! Laddies is really up on the history of entertainers excelling.

I was aware of Fairbanks' involvement in the elaborate deceptions that kept the Nazis confused and greatly helped the European invasion success. I wasn't aware of, but am not surprised by, the other accomplishments.

Neither am I surprised at Hedy Lamar. That lady was as smart as she was drop dead gorgeous.

200 free posts for laddies. :) :)

For the most part, they came from an era where actors and performers had been real people. Likely as not today, many are just fluffy media creations.

All IMHO, of course!

Here's another interesting bassist - Tal Wilkenfeld. She too was a guitar player before taking up the bass. She is from Australia, quit high school at 16 to pursue music, and moved to the U.S. She is currently only about 22, but has already played with many greats, such as Stevie Winwood, Herbie Hancock, etc.

Here's a nice introduction to Tal, from her 2006 CD entitled "Transformation."

Re: Bizarre career shift

I was thinking of posting that one QC, and actually meant to say Jeff Beck, not S. Winwood. I just love the look she gives Beck in the beginning of the vid - she is so good, but is still a kid playing with an idol. What a great thing!

Later on, you see Beck just grinning at her too, and then the keyboard player does the same thing. Its as if they can't believe this cute "little girl" could be playing like that.

Ultimately, I ended up posting the cut off of Transformation because its one of her tunes, and I am so impressed with her overall capabilities. This is one young lady that has a very bright future in front of her!
