Anybody have any experience with these? We own 4 and refuse to use anything else. They work fantastic, have extended the life of an old dying battery out at least 3 years (it's still my trolling motor battery, it's almost 10 years old now) and we can leave it overnight and it will be full in the morning.

Anybody else absolutely love this charger?

waterinthefuel,

not exactly..as you said I think they work great on conventional lead acid batteries. My experience using them to charge or float AGM batteries is mixed..

TresGatos

Tres,

I got a new model, up to 15 amps and you can select the battery type, and AGM is an option.

I'm sure it would work better.

Re: Black and Decker smart battery charger

How do you give Black and Decker credit back 10 years for a product they only put there name on last year. Early last year the same charger was call vector. I have one I got from Wallmart early last year. The model is the 2/10/20/35 amp model and it works well but then I have not seen any automatic in the last 10 years that did not do a great Job.

Even the 35 amp does a great job of stepping down the amps to keep the charge voltage at the proper range. Also will display the voltage and test your alternator output.

Boatist, my oldest charger is Vector, newest says Black and Decker. I don't care whats on the case, its the same charger inside.

Also, reread my post. I said the battery was 10 years old, not the charger. It brought new life into an old battery.

WaterintheFuel
Good points and I do think it is a very good charger.
I not a fan of Black and Decker anymore. 30 years ago I felt they made some of the best power tools. 15 Years ago in my opinion they were the worst.

10 years you got your money's worth. My deep cycle on my boat is very old also but hold a charge like it was new.

I have little experience with their power tools, personally I'd go with DeWalt on tools. I've used them before at work in a cabinet shop and they were of incredible quality.

I don't think B and D makes the charger. Since Vector made it before, I just think they are outsourcing to use a better known brand name to try to sell their product.
