The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had covertly funded a project with U.S. auto makers for the past five years, whereby the auto makers were installing black box voice recorders in four-wheel drive pickup trucks and SUV's in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last moments before the crash.

They were not surprised to find in 44 of the 50 states the recorded last words of drivers in 61.2 percent of fatal crashes were, "Oh, Sh**!"

But the states of Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, Alabama and Kentucky were different, where 89.3 percent of the final words were, "Hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin."

The Doctor is in but the lights are out and the time was 0851.

The story reminds me of the time Oxford University decided to run an experiment to see what thoughts went through someones mind when they did a parachute jump for the first time.

They selected a volunteer who had never jumped before, went through the training, wired them up so that they could describe every emotion involved when the volunteer jumped. The big day arrived and the volunteer jumped out the aircraft wired for recording. Upon landing the scientists rushed to listen to the recordings and heard.......
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" :D :D :D

Re: Black Boxes

I know when I wrecked my Triumph GT6 around a pole, my words was "Who put that F___in pole there" After that, all I remember hearing is "Blow harder" as I sat at the highway patrol station.

As for the black boxes, I have heard about them. I didn't know they recorded sound, but I did know that they record what the vehicle conditions were at the time of an accident.
