Black Fluid from 9.8

My 1972 9.8 has started leaking some black fluid after I run it and does for several days after. I cant really tell where it is coming from. It just started doing it this year. Is this lower unit lube or unburned 2 cycle oil and what should be done to fix this problem?

I believe if the leak was from the lower unit it would no longer be black because water would be getting into the unit and it would become cream colored. You want lower unit gear lube to be dark and not cream colored. It is possibly 50:1 mix (mostly oil) coming out thru the exhaust. There should be several related topics in this forum (I think I even recall a 9.8 mentioned.) When I run my 115 Evinrude or my 25 Merc with the muff attachment or a large plastic trash can I get this and its from the 50:1 mix. If I run in the water I hardly see this afterwards. I think OB's were designed to run in rivers, lakes, etc and not in the yard.
