Most of my Black Fridays are spent sleeping or working.
But since you guys say it's literally such an angry mob scene, I may show up just to watch . Nothing like watching a train wreck unfold in front of your eyes
I will say I got a decent deal on an on-line Black Friday event last year.
I Bought a Lenovo 15.6" G550 laptop (the one I'm typing this on right now) W/ Pentium Dual Core T4300 processor, 3 Gigs DDR3 Memory, and WIN7 home, delivered to my door for $399.99 (this model was going for $500+ last year) from NewEgg.com

Best idea I've heard yet. Got me thinking...fill the thermos, grab a muffin, and go sit in the parking lot. Maybe even get there super early and grab a front row parking spot and leave the lights on to see how many people wait for me to back out.


On second thought, I think the dog and I will just go pheasant hunting like we do every year.

I did it once got a good deal on a laptop. Will NEVER do it again, after the first 3 or 4 people bumped into my hip and felt cold hard steel everybody made a wide trip around me. It seems to me the deals aren't as good as they used to be, and it certainly is not enough to wake me up before 8 am.

my wife goes every year and she spends around $1000. Comes back with more junk than I've ever not wanted. Most of it is some brand that doesn't even exist except on black friday.

I then tell her it's crap and most of it has to go back which makes me out to be a jerk (if the shoe fits). She ends up returning half of what she buys. Her logic is that you can only buy items at that price on black friday but you can return them any time. She buys memory cards every year??

We have 4 , 4 gig sd cards for our camera (along with various smaller cards). I'll never fill those up in a million years. A actually have started backing up my computer on those. It's way easier than burning the files.

This year I'll tell her to get me a big memory stick for the blu-ray player. I want to retire my current spinning reel and rod but with what I want, not what is a great deal on black friday. Of course if she gets me a rod and reel I canalways return it

Probably. They belong to the "Seriously, people, GET A FREAKIN LIFE group".

Standing in line for hours on end for the privelege of spending your hard earned money? Doesn't make much sense to me. And you're really NOT SAVING anything. To save is to NOT SPEND.
Spend a bit less than you might have otherwise? Perhaps. My time is more valuable to me than a few dozen bucks. So is what little I have left of my sanity.

It was more of a novelty when everyone didn't know about it years back. Now it's just an endurance contest and who'se time is worth less to be standing in line at 2:00 am. I saw a gal tenting on the news in Florida already last week. My wife likes to go to get the non door buster type stuff that people aren't clamoring for later on in the day. I recall some years back she got a DVD player for cheap when they first came out when everyone didn't know what BF even was. I heard the big deal this year is free shipping on line so will probably do some cybermonday shopping.

I would be one of them, but then my Sig doesn't really leave my side anymore. It's a crazy world out there.

I bought and got a good deal on a new TV last year. Surprisingly the store opened at 6am, I didn't get there till almost 11 and there wasn't really a crowd. everyone around me I was chatting with was saying they were actually dissapointed. lol

I hear this year things like tv's are no longer an impulse buy and many places aren't really doing big deals on them, but I dunno.

On a side note, all my gift shopping is done all ready. Only thing left is shopping for me. I have my eye on a new RC plane, or RC Helicopter, I'll have to wait to see who puts on a better deal to decide which I get. May even got both. A guy needs some winter projects after all. Luckily for me all my RC shopping is done online. We don't have a decent hobby shop around here anymore.

Yep, will be doing all the shopping from my recliner. Well, except for a ring my wife has been asking for. Will have to go look at that in person. But everything else will be delivered by UPS/Fed-ex and save the fuel cost, the time, the wear and tear on the car.

My wife is out there right now. Daddy's getting a compressor with a nailer!! Not for x-mas either. I need to put up new molding on 6 upstairs doors, inside and out.

I'd never do black Friday but my wife would never miss it. Some of us just love to shop. You should see the look gleam in her eyes when she talks about shopping strategy and what knot. I can tell from accross the room when she is planning out her black Friday shopping.

Walked to Sunrise Highway this morning with the dog where the shopping malls begin. Looked like a scene from Mad Max. It seems as if the entire Island put their vehicles in "D" for destruct and have aimed towards a mall.
Be careful out there, it ain't pretty.

The previous owners cat!! It scratched all if the trim upstairs. Here is a pic of the newel post I am in the middle of replacing. I've already done 5 pre-hung doors, all of which will get new molding. The few doors that are not getting replaced will get new molding as well to match the other doors.

Wife was out from about 4:00 am to 7:00 am. Someone mentioned 21 degrees in Indy, here is was in the single digits plus some wind. She ended getting a ton of big ticket item for the kiddos but didn't stand in line other than to walk in single file. Target got our money this year. Walmart was in complete disarray and Menards lines were to the back of the store so she turned around and walked back out. She thought she was going to skip it but couldn't sleep knowing it was going on so headed out just before 4:00.

I ended going out this afternoon with Diane and still picked up some things she wanted for her daughter...

I somehow ended up at Harbor Frt and used a coupon to get a heavy duty rechargeable "jump starter" for $34.00..You know, the one the triple A tow truck driver whips out when you need a jump. Going on the boat for that "never stuck" feeling out on the water

I almost went there myself.

Ended up getting 2-Tom Toms online from Best Buy for $100.00 each. With lifetime map and traffic updates at 10:00 PM- B.F. eve.

We'll see how they are.
