I recently purchased a boat and the guy thru in a slightly used high five stainless prop. The prop looks like it was painted blue at one point. Is there any significance to this blue paint?

Re: Blue Paint on High Five Stainless Prop?

It could have just been painted blue or it could be one of Merc's "loaner" props. A while back Merc came up with the idea that they made a line of blue props to sell to dealers to loan out for testing. Not a bad idea since you cant get most dealers interested in testing props themselves. The props were not supposed to be sold and were very cheap to dealers. You see where this is going. They sold them anyway and made more money than if they sold a "real" prop.

Nothing wrong with them, it as just an easy way to identify them.

I'll go with the loaner prop......any on a Merc I've seen were all loaners...ugly blue as well.
Should have been red or some other decent color.
