I get a little blue smoke in the exhaust when engine is cold then that goes away but I have a gas smell in the engine compartment that makes me think I will have to run the blower full time

first, you should never have a gas smell. if you can smell it, soon you may explode

find the source of the gas smell before you ever use the boat again.

if the clear (yellow) hose from the fuel pump to the fitting on your air cleaner has fuel in it, then your fuel pump diaphragm is ruptured and the vent is now pumping fuel into your carb. this would cause both symptoms.

You get a little smoke when you start a cold engine because the electric choke is closed and the engine is running rich. It just takes a little while for the element in the choke housing to heat up and open the choke. Perfectly normal. Yeah I’m with Scott, track down that gas smell.

Hi
i can understand a little smoke when cold starting under the choke but usually not a clear as day blue colour. It’s more a whispy grey or blackish colour under choke.
A blue colour and fuel smell is crying out that you are either on old and thin/fuel polluted oil and or you are down on compression. The afore mentioned could also cause the latter.
