Boat and trailer compatibility

Hi everyone,

I was directed to this forum to seek assistance about buying a trailer for my 1999 GS 185 Glastron. The seller of the trailer sent me some measurements to see if my boat will fit on the trailer without too much work before I buy it.

My boat is currently at my family's cottage and I'm unable to get the measurements myself in a reasonable time so I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me. I've searched online and I haven't been able to find the measurements elsewhere.

I've attached a picture with the profile of the trailer.

The distance from the outside edge of the outside bunks is 4 feet, with a drop of 7 3/4 inches at the center (to clear that rear roller). I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what the measurements of the GS 185 are to see if it will fit this.

Well, the picture of the trailer won't load. ...and the hull of the boat is covered by water...hard to see it's design.

Why not get a roller trailer? They fit or can be adjusted real easy to fit most hulls.

Bunk trailers make launching harder than roller trailers....

that trailer is custom fit for one hull. it is not easily adjustable for other hulls (without a torch and a welder). so unless you have the exact model of boat that was on that trailer, buy a trailer that can be adjusted to your hull.

see if you can take the trailer to where your boat is.... give it a go.... you will tell pretty quick if it fits properly to safely trailer it, ..............

I agree with Scott. That trailer is custom built for a particular boat. It's not adjustable for anything, including axle placement to get your tongue weight within limits.

Keep shopping.....
Look for a trailer with supports that are adjustable/mounted with nuts and bolts - not welded!
Axle placement under the trailer needs to be adjustable as well.

Look for an Adjustable Trailer, Bunk or Roller. Brands like EZLoader, Shorelander are a couple of the most popular. EZLoader also makes Custom Trailers, and probably have the specs for your boat

+3....or 4...or however, to finding a trailer that at the very least, has adjustable bunks. While that looks like a great trailer they have for sale, won't be worth anything if it doesn't fit your boat. I, for one, wouldn't buy a trailer that I couldn't try my boat on. Saves a lot of hassle down the road, that's for sure.
