Any words of advice? I will not be breaking a bottle of Champagne over the bow but pooring it instead.

I will also be reciting Judge Smails poem ( I wonder how many thousands of times that has been done?)
Thanks,
Ollie

Not to say the ceremony shouldn't be fun. But down here it's taken very seriously. Neptune is not a God to be trifled with. Just look at him? He'll kick yer azz!

Ah-hemm... Poseiden ruled the 7 seas first, and I don't recall seeing an obituary. You're catering to the wrong 'God of the Seas', dude. No wonder yer azzes get kicked!

To the OP- careful, now. Don't screw it up! :D

(have a blast!)

Neptune (Latin: Neptūnus) was the Roman god of water and the sea[1] in Roman mythology and religion. He is the counterpart of the Greek god Poseidon. In the Greek-influenced tradition, Neptune was the brother of Jupiter and Pluto, each of them presiding over one of the three realms of Heaven, Earth and the Netherigions. Depictions of Neptune in Roman mosaics, especially those of North Africa, are influenced by Hellenistic conventions.[2]

Unlike the Greek Oceanus, titan of the world-ocean, Neptune was associated as well with fresh water. Georges Dum?zil suggested[3] that for Latins, who were not a seafaring people, the primary identification of Neptune was with freshwater springs. Like Poseidon, Neptune was worshipped by the Romans also as a god of horses, under the name Neptunus Equester, a patron of horse-racing.[4]

Poseidon or Posidon (Greek: Ποσειδῶν) is one of the twelve Olympian deities of the pantheon in Greek mythology. His main domain is the ocean, and he is called the "God of the Sea". Additionally, he is referred to as "Earth-Shaker"[1] due to his role in causing earthquakes, and has been called the "tamer of horses".[2]

The name of the sea-god Nethuns in Etruscan was adopted in Latin for Neptune in Roman mythology; both were sea gods analogous to Poseidon. Linear B tablets show that Poseidon was venerated at Pylos and Thebes in pre-Olympian Bronze Age Greece as a chief deity, but he was integrated into the Olympian gods as the brother of Zeus and Hades.[2] There is a Homeric hymn to Poseidon, who was the protector of many Hellenic cities, although he lost the contest for Athens to Athena.

Re: Boat Christening Ceremony Today

Thanks for all the responses. My wife has the pics.
Anyway we had a N.E. wind on Lake Superior that made puting on the name challenging. There was a couple times the Bravo 3 came close to breaking my foot because if the waves.
Her name is "Sara Belle" after my wife and daughter.
We did the ceremony on the beach. My buddy brought his 280 Sundancer, although he couldn't get it as close to the beach because if the waves - at least the water was somewhat tolerable for his swim :)
I can gauge the success of the ceremony by the heartbeat I feel in my head this morning. Thus the Gods should be pleased!
