Question 1) I HAVE a 1976 Ranger Bass Boat. I would like to remove the cap and replace the stringers, floor board and transom. However, I do not want to replace the cap put would like to covert to a center console. Will this conversion weaken the boat hull any and if so can I do any thing to streaneth it.
Question 2) Will I need to regester the boat since I'm doing major
modifications?

Re: Boat Conversion/2 Questions

The cap provides the mojority of the stiffness to the upper edge of the hull on most boats. Look at a real center console and you'll see a gunwale (wide edge) running along the top edge of the hull to stiffen it. I would imagine you would need something similar.

You can do anything you want to the hull of a boat without worrying about re-registering it.
