I have a 20ft cuddy, would like to restore rear seat cushions next year... they simply sit on wood slats, one against outer wall, other on the inside of engine dog house cover.. gonna pull the staples out of the cracked plywood seat, use that plywood as stensil and make new ones... any foam recommendations?? marine covering? staple on,, how do I get the seams right? thanks all

Marine vinyl . . . Plenty of sites to browse and order from. Some places will send you a sample for minimal cost. You are on the right track with using the existing backing boards as templates for new ones. Also, you can use the existing vinyl pieces as templates to cut out the vinyl. You may have to use a bit of judgement to account for shrinkage of the old pieces.

probably want to practice with the sewing machine on some spare vinyl to get the thread tension correct, etc. use nylon thread.

if the foam is still OK, you could use it . . . Otherwise use polyurethane foam for best results.

There are several Upholstery threads here on the forum. I have one, mrdjflores, JDA1975, jimmy wise, andgott, just to name a few. You might do a search for them. You will pick up quite a few tips and pointers I'm sure.
