Boat Identification

Hi,

I'm a new member and new owner of a vintage 14ft something or other. It is in very good condition but I don't think it is what the title says it is. Supposed to be a 1970 "Sunray". By the seating set up I think it's earlier. It looks a lot like a mid to early 60s Starcraft to me. Or something similar. It has half of a stick-on name plate in the engine area saying Sunray with a pre-1972 5 digit hull ID number. It looks to me as if it was an "afterthought". In any case, it is titled in very nice shape and came with a 1957 Evinrude 35 hp big twin which is being serviced at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated......it would be more fun to know what it really is.

Try http://www.fiberglassics.com/... lot of good info for identifying those classic fiberglass hulls. I'm sure people will start chiming in... kinda looks like a later model Lake n sea or a Glasspar Citation.. but i know nothing soooo... there ya go

The reason I think it is something else and older is it has no "real" nameplate on it. It has what looks like half of a foil like sticker and no other markings that I can find. Plus, the seats are, from what I can find, mid 60s to earlier. Everything is original and almost pristine. I don't think it was used much and if it was it was in fresh water. I'm sure it was under cover or in a garage its whole life too. Maybe I'm wrong but......that's why I asked. Someone will know. Thanks for the comments so far. It should be fun.

I saw the ad on that boat in Florida. I think one of the photos you posted was one from the ad, isn't it? Nice looking boat.

Impala was one of the models offered by Texas Maid, but the only pix I could find was an early 1960's aluminum boat brochure. Later it may have been made as a fiberglass model.

Great looking boat, congrats on getting a rare original boat! No matter what she is, she's a beauty!

Welcome & hope you find her roots. Always good to have the back story when people ask, & I bet they will everywhere you take her.
