.....Apparently my state is different from yours.
Seems insurance follows the same pattern as registration and titling for boats does: varies by state...

Ken is in Arizona, so anybody IN the insurance business or have insurance coverage in AZ that might have relevant info to share that answers his original question?

Speculative debate based on the wrong state's insurance regulations doesnt help him find a new carrier.

Esp since not all carriers operate in every state.

Back to the original question, I have progressive and am happy. Not had a boat claim but they were good on my car claim.

Hope that is $200,000 medical per person because $2,000 is hardly going to cover the ambulance ride

Sorry, $2000 is med pay, meaning they will pay that immediately with no questions asked. It is 100,000 per person and 300,000 per incident.

It was a stupid decision by the company not to just drop the lien holder as I requested. In a way they were trying to tell me that they were controlling whether or not I had insurance. They cancelled my insurance the same day as I demanded.
Further the boat insurance is under the same company as my car insurance (but separate I am sure) and the auto folks dropped the lien holders off my policy the day I sent them the email Different rules for difference sections of the company I guess.
The bottom line is that nobody can tell me what I do and it cost them a customer.

I just got an online quote from BoatUS and they are competitive but they also want me to spend 25% of the value of my policy for membership in BoatUS. Not an option for me.

Yes, similar to a HO policy. I've had decent experience with Progressive. When my wife rolled her suv on the highway, they paid us that week for a new one and we got more than we paid for it so they were very fair on that claim. When my boat trailer hit some road debris on the highway they paid me the full value for the trailer though the damage was relatively minor and I kept the trailer. Rates went up on the car insurance 10% after the total loss of my wife's SUV and barely edged up at all on the boat insurance.

Membership is only $24 bucks a year. What level of insurance are you looking for?

When I compared the insurance values that BoatUS quoted and after talking to 3 other companies I decided that it appeared to me that for my needs that BoatUS would do me and I bought a Policy from them I was rather surprised that Progressive came in some $30 higher for about the same coverage total price. Oh well, I know when it comes to car coverage the state you are in really makes a difference.

My old boat was with Progressive (not a fan of them). My current boat is with Safeco. They have tow insurance included. I think it is $21 a month for full coverage at $10k agreed value.

Progressive via USAA, covers 2 boats, 2 trucks, 1 car, 1 motor home (for sale), 1 travel trailer, golf cart on road use at beach, beach house, 1 M umbrella policy. Progressive also includes roadside assistance on vehicles and trailers. First boat $99.00, second $1.00. They gave me best rates and coverage.

I do not understand why your company would take a verbal disclosure that the vehicle liens were satisfied, but not for the boat. That makes no sense.
