Well as much as i didnt want to...I cut a hole on the port side of the motor under one of the seats and bottom 1/4 inch of foam is soaked but rest is bone dry. My other boat was completely saturated and got on plane. Any ideas of what to try next?
Could that 4.3 be sick, as in low compression, spark not advancing, carburetor junked up, ect ect. no power to push the hull up and out, I mean whats the engine sounding like? just an extended bog?
timing is fine, didnt check the spark advance...not sur id know how. Plugs did carbon after a short time. Im not sure playing with the carb is something i should tackle but it probably needs a tune up, weather has not cooperated here in upstate ny for mee to do much testing with it. Really dont want to pour lots of money into a sick boat. When i hit the throttle she has power. I feel the boat lurch pretty severe. But then the stern just dives. It does cavatate pretty bad as well. Idles great.
Any other ideas.....Is the richness of the engine dealt with by adjusting the carb? Going to pull the drive again to check the gear ratio...maybe that will tell me something?
Well I figured it out it was the prop all the time. Threw on an old beat up prop and she jumped right up on plane. Still not sure why but who cares right! Thanks for the replies.
