Boat Launch Etiquette

That'll make for the longest launch time at the ramp I use. You will have to attach the winch strap again to pull the boat far enough forward so you can get the safety chain hook out again..... I've seen several boats on the ramp as they took both off so having the safety chain hooked up will hopefully keep the boat only a bit to far backwards.


I thought about as I posted. To clarify:

I have three items attached to the eye
  • safety chain
  • winch strap
  • bow strap
Only remove the bow strap (hold the thing down to the trailer over road bumps). Winch and safety both connected until in the water. I launched a 25' on the ramp once...

oops, yes, that strap can go.... Unfortunately very few people use them at all......

Must be a really sh... feeling when you launch on the ramp. I hope it never happens to me which is the reason for me to always check the winch strap and safety chain and replace when they look a bit suspect.
