hi everyone , well we put the boat in the water on sunday , before we put it the water i installed a new fresh water pump so the wife would be able to use her tap down in the galley , we bought the boat three years ago and it has taken me this long to replace it . anyway i filled up the freshwater tank which is 15 gallons , my problem now is the boat is listing to the port side of the boat with the extra weight of the full freshwater tank . i was thinking of putting a couple of sand bags in the closet on the floor on the starboard side of the boat to level it out , will this work ? thanks ..

Trim tabs would be the best solution. Although if it took three years to get the freshwater pump fixed this may take some time, lol

If it's listing while sitting still, trim tabs isn't going to help. If you put sand bags on the other side, as you use the water you will have to empty the sand bags over the side to keep it from listing the other way.

i would suggest more beer on the starboard side and empty that as you go.

Definitely use beer instead of sand. Make sure you have enough on hand at all times to keep the mother balanced.

I agree with Everyone's posts here  I don't think that has ever happened before . . .

I will say what I always say about trim tabs. Helm adjustable tabs should be standard on every v-huil, you will not find a better tool. Don's right though, they won't help at rest.

BTW, this would bug me at rest too. What I would do is fill the tank around half way if that would please the Admiral, full if she wants it full of course. Then I would find something to move from port to starboard that I already have on board. Batteries, ice chest, tools etc. Never add weight to a boat unless you absolutely have to.

or maybe do 2 water tanks, and tie them together so they empty equally ????

water tanks should never be on either side, instead they should be at the bow of the boat...................

15 gallons still translates to almost 150 pounds, that is a lot of weight .................

I'm thinking an integrated Kegorator...tied into the water system, separate lines of course, that pumps the same amount of beer as she does water:eek: That'll solve your water issue:D

I agree they should be centered, but never in the bow. You need to be able to get the bow up for efficiency and speed with a trimmable drive. Too far aft, and she'll porpoise, but that's solved with the trim tabs ;)

15 gals = 125 lbs
