Boat needs some compound buffing

My boat gel coat is not so great on the underside, nor the top side either. In particular there are what look to be black marks on the underside that line up with about where the rollers are. What are some good ways of getting this off before I take the buffer and compound to it? How should I go about cleaning where the rollers are? Do I have to take the boat off the trailer (really hope I don't as I don't have a smooth or safe area to do so. Could I in theory remove one section of rollers then buff that area and then do the same for each spot or would this not be a safe/good idea? I really want to make this boat feel and look like a newer boat. It is overall in good condition for its age.

Trailer for reference is a 2001 ez loader roller trailer.

If the rollers are leaving black marks then the first step is to replace them since they are deteriorating. Can't say that I would care too much about the part of the hull that the rollers touch being shiny, but you should be able to jack it up and then remove the rollers temporarily - looks like a smaller boat so you should be able to do it fairly easily.

If you want to polish the hull where the rollers sit, just push the boat back a bit. Leave the winch line attached with a little slack in it to allow the boat to go back but not off the trailer.

That is a great idea now to see if I can actually push it
