im in the process of restoring my sea ray back to back seats. im making new boxes for the seats to sit on, so i rmoved the old rotted ones and i plan to copy them. i have a 1992 sea ray 220 bowrider. now my question is why are the driver side back-to-back seats different than the other. i mean the seats are the same but the boxes are different, the mechanism that lounges them are different, one is lower. and to me it looks like they are both orignal.

Re: boat seat question????

From what I have seen the two seats are different. I think the starboard seat slides back and forth for different heights of people. Is there any way to use the same mechanism over on the new boxes? Is it just a matter of making the base is different?

Is the hardware integrated into the wood of the bases? I would think you could just take the metal of the hardware out of one base, and put in the other new base that you make. The wood is the only thing that's rotted right?
