I have a 20 foot bayliner open bow, and I'm wondering how hard the 4 back to back seats are to take out and put new ones in? As any one done this? Are the seats on Iboats good ones?
thanks

Re: boat seats

If you mean the main fold out back to back seats, they are just screwed to the floor. You want to make sure that you seal the old screw holes, best with epoxy putty, then apply 3M 4200 to the screws for the new seat assemblies.

I'm sure the seat assemblies on iboats are as good as any that you will find. Pay real close attention to all the dimensions, including the manner in which they fold out. There are many differences in seemingly similar seats.

Re: boat seats

the seats at iboats, are as good as any others, i bought seats for 4 boats on ebay, (back to back boat seats). the main thing is the size, including box, pedistal height. i prefer the 10" boxes, as i am getting older and stiff, be sure the boxes are plastic (compostion), not wood. 'Wise" makes a competive priced seat, and have been around for ages. also the placement in the boat is important. i always sit the drivers side back further than the passengers, to make getting under the steering wheel easier,

Re: boat seats

Anyone tried the new seats with spring seating area. I noticed some of the new boats are featuring them (Ranger for one). Then yesterday I noticed Cabella is offering them too; pricey, but if they work...... Haven't looked at iboats yet.

They are said to deflect 3" on compression and not bottom out....soft landing I guess.

What about your back? Does just the seating area move? If so, does your back slide up and down the backrest as you bounce over he waves?

Hard to get a shallow draft boat with a soft ride. Am thinking that this might be a solution to have a shallow draft boat and get a soft ride too.....back's killing me.

Re: boat seats

Attwood makes this spring seat. I just contacted them and they said that I can buy the parts and take my seats to an upholstery shop and have it adapted, or have the shop custom malke a seat to fit my boat with the spring seat. It's called an SAS Centric and Attwood has a www address and they are sending me the name of a retailer that sells parts and a catalog.
