Hello!

I placed an ad to sell my boat on Craigslist, and I was contacted by 'Boatsellernetwork.com'. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with these guys...they sound legit...but, well...any advice?

Thanks!

Well, I just went to their website, here's a screenshot of the page-- or the whole website actually!

boatseller.jpg

Looks "legit" but seems it's just a pay-per-click site looking for more clicks-- every single link, even the 2 'for sale' ads at the bottom, ALL take you to a "sponsored ads" page.

And neither the girl nor the background has anything to do with boating.

Pretty lame...

It's just a place that (if it even exists, the screen shot posted above is the typical link-bait domain squatters types page) will offer to sell your boat for you for commission.

The page in Frantically's post if from boatsellersnetwork.com, a website that is 3 months old and almost certainly there simply to harvest clicks.

if you take out the second 's' and go to boatsellernetwork.com, you get a site that looks more legit, has actual boats for sale, a search function, testimonial, etc., and is run by a company that also has online car and motorcycle sales.

Don't know if its a good deal or not, but far more likely to be real.

This looks like a links site - a site that sets up links to other sites - there are other sites out there that do actual boat sales - including iboats.

Anytime you post an add for your boat on craigslist, include the line "No Brokers,Dealers,or Online re-sellers please" That will help eliminate any of these scavengers. It's very easy to find legit boat advertising sites with a quick google. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You choose the place to list your boat on your own, NEVER accept an inquiry from one of these outfits. Legit ones DO NOT need to solicit Craigslist adds for their listings.

Well now, don't I feel like an "S" ! ;)

(amazing what one missing, wrong, or extra button push does on the www!)
