Boat steering - hard to turn left

Quick question that has me confused on my 19' Bayliner Capri open bow.

At speed the boat will turn right very easily, but turning left has me really puling on the steering wheel.

At idle, the steering is very easy left and right.

There was just me in the boat so weight would have been on the starboard side.

There is no trim fin on the motor - it does have a hydrofoil on there.

When I accelerate it does not noticeably pull left or right.

Is this something that smart tabs would correct, is it the weight bias causing the problem or some alignment issue?

Re: Boat steering - hard to turn left

next time at speed when turning drop it in neutral real fast and then turn before the boat slows much. see if it gets a lot easier. could just just prop torque from it spinning clockwise.... at speed it makes it harder to turn left because your fighting the way the prop is spinning. clockwise rotation makes it turn easier to right.

maybe a power steering pump on its way out which is why its more noticeable.

Ayuh,... My guess is, Those are yer Problems...

You could try trim tabs, 'n put the torque tab back on the lower unit...

^^^ I agree .... the torque tab is NOT an "optional" part of a lower unit. I would be surprised if you could steer the boat and not feel it pull to starboard.
