I was out on the lake last weekend and was driving the boat and it just shut off on me. Tried to fire it back up and still nothing. It sounds like gas was being pumped though the lines but at the same time it seemed like the reason it was not starting was because it was not getting gas. I just brought it back to my house to work on it and here is what I have done so far: I tried starting it again, while reving it up more than normal and it still just dies instantly. Thinking it might be a fuel pump, I used starter fluid and tried firing it up maybe 5 or 6 times. Then i emptied the fuel filter and put it back on while using starter fluid and it started up. I let it run for 3 minutes or so and it was fine so I shut it off for a couple more minutes and it started right up and ran fine w/o the starter fluid. Went and bought a new fuel filter and installed 2 hours later and the boat wont start again.
Any ideas of what I could try doing or as to what the problem is? Also, I just bought the boat last September and it supposedly had not been ran in like 2 years....has always fired right up though and I've used it maybe 12 times since I have had it.
