I have sever PTSD because of my injuries from iraq in 2003. My doctors have been trying me on many medications to help me get thru it. I was on a total of 17 different medications.

I bought my boat last week and it needed alot of work. had to get the carbs done and the interior is total junk the wiring had been so rigged out I felt unsafe riding in it.

last night I pulled out every wire out of the boat and installed new ones. Everything now work except the tach, gauge lights, and the trim gauge. Nothing worked before even the bilge and the navigation lights.

I took it out for a few hours and I have not felt this good in a long while. Usually I never leave the inside of my home. for the last few days I have been making trips to the parts store and other activities getting it ready to go. I have lost about 5 pounds because all I normally do is sit around and eat even when I am not hungry.

budget is tight now so i have to wait a while to get the vinyl for the interior. I think this boat has made my way of life so much better.

Thanks everyone. Making plans to take it out tomorrow. Gonna take lots of pictures of the Waccamaw River. I will post a link to the pictures late tomorrow afternoon if the weather is good enough. Where is the cheapest place to get vinyl for the seats. Need to find some at a good price. Looking for white and yellow.

That's and awesome story.. Sometimes the best medicine is no medicine at all but rather taking an interest in something, fixing something, rebuilding something, making yourself proud of the work you have done. Two thumbs up. :)

You have found what I like to call the "Giant Floating Valium"!!! Boating beats any of the chemical medicines on the market. I have a touch of PTSD myself and I can relate to the stresses put on you and I'm so glad to hear that you found boating. Thanks for serving to protect my family and my country and here's to hope that new memories, good ones, replace any bad ones still lingering.
