2003 four wins freedom 18 foot with fishing package, nobody in boat from rear on boat it leans towards the starboard side about two inches, is the fuel tank in the middle? also two batteries on starboard side would this be enough to lean? any ideas?
Weight balance is a big deal on 18'rs, yeah 2 batteries on one side could cause the list. Go through and distribute the weight if you can until the boat is balanced out.
Yep I agree with waterman . A battery can weigh 80 to 100 lbs each. 2 batteries=2" lower on that side. My 19'6" StarCraft dropped 6" when my buddy who tipped the scales at plus 400LBS sat in the left seat. RIP Big Kev.
You could remove the batteries temporarily to check the level and confirm that's your issue. Or put something/someone about the same weight on the other side and see if it balances out.
I have the same issue as well in my Glastron GT 185, port was about 2 inches lower then starbaord.
You will have to play with weight to see. I put my anchor up front to help keep the bow down in rougher water and then I put all of my tools in the starboard. Now my biggest problem is just people...
Balance is important. When I added a 15HP 100 lb kicker on the port side the boat dipped about an inch. But I had removed 2 heavy elec. trolling motor batteries from the bow the transom was far too low and stern high. Put back the batteries and it is balanced now.
