Took my 1985 Rinker out this weekend and the boat ran fine for most of the day putting around the lake although I never really opened her up. Parked at a sand bar with the wife and kids for a few hours and when we left to head back for the launch the boat wouldn't plane out felt bogish. I moved everyone to the bow to shift the load off the back of the boat. Boat still was bogging down. When I eased back on the gas and gradually pushed the throtel back up she planed out and ran like a bat out of hell. When I got her home I pulled the fule filter on the carb inside was a lot of stuff that looked like sand until I rubbed it between my fingures and it basicly turned to powder.
I cleaned out the filter and replaced it haven't had boat back out yet, but do you think this was the problem? Two weeks before the boat was bogging a bit but not as bad as it did this past Saturday. Could this have been from the build up in the filter? Is there anything else I should look at?.
