Hi to all - i have a 1968 Winner (16 ft) with a 60HP Evinrude- as of last year it's started bogging down at WOT and finally had to limp in at about 8 mph to get her back to the dock. I changed the gas and the fuel line and made sure the vent cap was open. It was very hard to start also-had to have one person holding the throttle open while other turned the key. Sluggish when revving up. Then I looked at the fuel pump andtook it apart. the rubber diaphram looked expanded ,as if it was soaked in laquer thinners. I had hear\d that the Ethanol in gas has been effecting rubber lines and diaphragms this way and causing similar issues, i guess this just took a little longer to finally get to. Anyhow I changed the entire fuel pump and it starts fine and seems to be revving up to proper rpms (though I didnt test drive yet) . The timing seems OK and the motor idles pretty smoothly at low rpms. Does this seem like it should be the problem. I'll know for sure once I bring it out to open water. Thanks you.
