As it turns out, there are several grades of stainless and not all of them are as corrosion resistant as you would expect. 316 SST usually the best for marine applications, but 321 is really good also. If you get into any of the larger fasteners, that is to say over 3/8" or 1/2", galling can be a problem if they are overtightened so be sure to use a good quality anti-seize compound. I've bought a lot of fasteners (316SST and silicon bronze) from JamestownDistributers.com with good success. Regards - Woodnaut
