The same, but different.
Beer Math = A portion of that small amount your wife gives you back from your pay check.
Food Math is deducted from the gross amount.:D

First off, why text messaging????
Second off, why unlimited talk, how much of your day is going to be takin up by using the cell phone, no land line????

And last thought, if the guys loaded (self made), there is a reason for that, play your cards close to your chest.

For this job, flights coming, going, landing, taking off and diverting are sent via text message to a cell phone. Notifications from pilots of flights, flight cancellations, etc, are all sent via text message. I actually use very few voice minutes, it's all text messages. It HAD to have a keyboard, because replies are also done via text message. Prepaid phones wouldn't work because he demanded it be an independent phone. NO piggyback lines on his account, I asked.

There is no two sides. That's what he said, he would pay for the phone. Several people are my witnesses, even the guy who I am replacing said that he told him that he would buy me a phone. Now he is going back on that to some figure he made up. I am worth too much to him for him to lay me off. He knows he can't find someone with half the qualifications I have. At this place, you quickly become irreplaceable. There is nobody else. YOU ARE THE MAN. You walk out, and these guys are moving their own planes, fueling their own planes, they WON'T do that, thus the creation of this position.

I'm going to pick my battles, but I just wanted to see if I was the only person who thought it was ****ty. Obviously I'm not. That's all I wanted to know! LOL

If you are going to bee-yatch about the $4, You better be sure that you dont make a SINGLE phone call on that phone thats not job related. Dont call the wife, the GF [or BF] the kids, a tow truck if the car breaks down, or the fire dept if your house is on fire....If I had FINALLY got a job, I would reconsider, my complaining...

Being thankful for being employed has nothing to do with a man going back on his word.

It's not the money, it's the principal of the matter. We had an agreement, other people knew about it, and the boss didn't hold up his end of the deal. The job has a TON of responsibility with it, but its also VERY easy, and sometimes even fun.

The way my boss became a millionaire was pinching his pennies. Why is it suddenly wrong for me to do the same?

Because you have to pay your dues or produce your certificate of being entitled. That is why you have a boss and you are not the boss. When you start writing the paychecks then you are entitled.

JB is right.

He's not a man of his word. You know that now. That information alone is worth $4. per month. The cell phone, which you think you don't need, is great at $4. per month. Choose your battles wisely?... Start counting your blessings;). You've got a job now, sounds like you like it, other than the petty nickel & dime stuff. Grin and bear it. Chalk it up to an inexpensive lesson learned. Congrats on the job. Good luck with it; and just remember this, next time your boss agrees to or offers something.

Apparently you did not get it in writing what he would pay.
You are complaining about a four dollar difference =48 bucks per year, he is paying 63 bucks per month =756 per year and you are making an X number of dollars per week. "FIRED"

Ok I am a man of principle myself, so I can understand that argument...... However....... it seams he is coming thru with about 94%of his word . [$4 out of $67] That prettty good IMHO!!! If you cant/wont cut him a bit of slack, He may repay you with absolutely no slack if you are late or make a mistake on the job... If you said you would be there at 8 and you get there at 815.....he may feel YOU didnt live up to YOUR word. Paybacks are a btch ya know.... B T W... Who signs your paychecks?

There is no two sides.

 But there always am two sides...;)

Grammatical brain fart aside, I would suggest that it is that precise attitude which may have a surprising correlation with the frequent tales of victimisation and persecution that seem to permeate your threads.
That would be my side of the story, at any rate....

Seriously, your OP admitted that you left out a pile of charges when you told the boss what it would cost....one view of that would be incompetence.
The fact that you told him $59.99 and he is giving you $63 suggests that he is pretty reasonable....you still are employed after messing up your first assigned task.
If someone had told YOU that the cost of something would be 59 dollars, you agreed , and they then presented you with a bill for 67 plus 114 etc....we'd be reading an irate thread about that. In fact, if I remember, there have been a couple..:D

The fact that to you, the bottom line is that you have to "work 15 minutes a month for free" pretty much sums up this entire exercise in stupidity.

1) You have a job...
2) There is no victim here....
3) Deal with it....

The boss is NEVER wrong. Comply or:

-do it on your own.

-go somewhere else.

Actually, there are three sides. We have heard one side, plus a bunch who think that is all there is to it.

We have also heard a second side from some who speculate about a second side but have zero information.

The third side is the iboats side. This discussion is going in a bad direction, so the iboats side is: end of discussion.
