Anyone have a clue how to find the placement of a runner? I have a niece who entered the marathon. I have tried to google for a list of placements and the closest I come is to confirm, as of 4/20/08, that she is an entrant. I have her 'bib' number but all I find are the top ten men and women finishers.

Re: Boston Marathon results?

Usually there should be an official site that will list results.

My daughter ran the Seattle Marathon last year, and they've gone pretty hi-tech, with chips in the laces of the shoes that charts progress along the route, as well as virtually instantaneously producing time and placement data on-line.

In Seattle's case, it was done by name rather than bib number. Boston is one of the premier events in the country, and I'm sure they are also as hi-tech as it gets.

BTW, it's kind of impressive to even run in the Boston race--you need to qualify for it by running a specific time or better in a sanctioned race. She informed me her goal next year is to qualify for and run in Boston. I believe the number is posting a 4 hour or better time in a sanctioned marathon.

Well I did google up an official site but could not find anymore info than I stated above.

As far as sophistication, maybe Seattle is miles ahead of east coast marathon technology.

I suppose we will find out soon enough, its just disappointing, this day in age when you have gotten spoiled by so much realtime stuff.

Re: Boston Marathon results?

I checked Google.

The results are available on www.bostonmarathon.org

There is a spot of the left of their website that says "Results" and you can enter a bib bumber, or a name.

Hope that helps.
